Internationalization Program

Ongoing | USA, UK, Berlin, and more regions to come

The Assembly is part of the program for internationalization, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and in collaboration with the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises.

This program aims to equip urban innovators and implementers with the tools and intros to deploy planet-saving technologies in cities across the world, and at the same time, support startups expanding to new markets.

Context

In 2019 we approached Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprise with the idea of supercharging the rising city’s urban tech scene with a focused programme of internationalization. The project is aimed at networks that support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their business globally. The focus is on establishing and developing international collaborations to grow impactful urban tech for better cities.

Our Role

We designed the concept of a multi-year project and consequently built up a community of urban tech entrepreneurs, investors, ecosystem experts, and cities. We deploy focused programs in different cities to help founders find the right business match in the US, UK, Berlin, and other key regions for urban tech startups. We work closely with a public sector sponsor to make sure that local development funds are put to work in the most effective way.

Results

Throughout our events and programs, we connect innovators and cities from different regions. By frequently “assembling” our network around flagship industry events on urban tech, we provide opportunities to match the best solutions with the most complex problems. In order to fulfill our vision, we are also creating long-lasting partnerships with community builders, CIOs, and smart city change-makers across the various regions.

About the Assembly

The Platform

The Assembly comprises programs and guides to key urban tech markets. These initiatives are run in a different way: curated, focused events where startup founders meet real decision-makers and multipliers, who provide the entry point to pilots, investment, and sales opportunities. We do the hard work, so founders can focus on what they do best, pitching and selling their products.
